Qibla Compass · AEKsoft
Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 11, 2026
This policy explains how the Qibla Compass watch app and Android companion app handle data. Huawei Health and Huawei Wear Engine's own processing is described by Huawei.
Location and calculations
Using approximate location in the phone app is optional. If you grant permission, the app uses Android coarse location only while the app is open. You can choose a place from the offline list without granting location permission. Qibla bearing, distance, WMM2025 magnetic declination, and place matching are calculated on the phone. Fine GPS and background location are not requested.
The watch app does not request location permission or use the watch's location. It can work independently with a place selected from its built-in offline list.
Information sent from phone to watch
When you send a location record, the phone app transfers these message fields to the paired watch through Huawei Wear Engine P2P:
v: message format version;id: record identifier and creation time (Unix milliseconds).latandlon: latitude and longitude (degrees);acc: location uncertainty (kilometres).dec: WMM2025 magnetic declination (degrees, east positive).ad: selected or matched place label.src: location source (netfrom the location service ormanselected manually);ts: measurement/selection time (Unix seconds).
The watch also sends a short ACK confirming receipt of the record. Huawei says that third-party apps interacting with a watch through Huawei Health may receive an app-specific random device identifier, device name, hardware information, and device status (charging/in use). Huawei's statement makes access to health sensor and activity data subject to user authorization; Qibla Compass does not request these health data. See Huawei Health's privacy statement for details.
On-device storage and deletion
The phone stores the latest single location record, mode preference, and last successful send time in Android DataStore. A new record replaces the previous one; no location history or route is kept. The watch stores the latest phone and list records in separate telefonKaydi and listeKaydi slots, along with source preference and north type. Records do not expire automatically: they remain on the device until you clear app data, a new record replaces them, or you uninstall the app.
Connection and watch-app installation status is used in memory while the app runs; it is not retained as a location record.
Servers and other services
The app has no app-owned server, account, advertising, analytics, or cookies. The phone app does not declare internet permission. The only third-party infrastructure the app uses to send data is Huawei Health/Wear Engine, which transfers data between devices paired by the user. Refer to Huawei's privacy statement above for Huawei's own processing.
Revoking permissions
- Phone location: On Android, open Settings → Apps → Qibla Compass → Permissions → Location and remove access. Menu names may vary by Android version.
- Watch connection: Open Huawei Health → Me → Settings → Device capabilities → select Qibla Compass and turn off its access. Menu names may vary by Huawei Health version and language.
After location access is removed, you can still select a place manually on the phone; the watch can also continue independently using its built-in list.
Children and changes
The app is not designed for children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If this policy or the app's data handling changes, the updated policy will be posted here.
